Properties without house numbers make emergency response difficult

From the Daily Dunklin Democrat

Properties in rural Dunklin County, without house numbers displayed, create difficulties for emergency personnel when dispatched to the residence.

Dunklin County 911 Director Richard LaMunion noted that he believed more houses did not have the numbers than those who did.

He added that the problem is serious enough that it has caused a concern with EMS personnel.

“The police department, fire department, and ambulance have a hard time finding where they need to go,” LaMunion said.

He added that these officials rely on the house numbers to direct them in the direction they need to travel.

The non-existing numbers “hinders progress” and “slows service,” according to LaMunion.

“A minute or two can make the difference between a live patient or someone going to the morgue,” LaMunion said.
